Frequently asked questions
If you need to ship your goods internationally and speed is a priority, air freight is the fastest option. However, this method of shipping is generally more expensive than other alternatives. The volumetric ratio determines the cost, meaning that the price is calculated based on both the weight of your cargo and the amount of space it takes up on the aircraft.
There are three ways to ship cargo through air freight: using a unit load device (ULD), palletised shipment, or loose cargo. The dimensions for standard palletised air freight are limited to 2.44m x 3.15m x 1.60m. If your cargo is longer or wider than this, you may still be able to transport it via airfreight, but it will be subject to airline acceptance and require ad hoc pricing.
It’s important to have the right documents when shipping items by air to prevent customs clearance delays. If the freight arrives with incorrect documentation, you may face fees or fines from the destination country’s customs authorities, as well as extended storage charges.
